Motherhood and Vinh-Isms: The Sh-Stuff My HusVinh Says... Vol. 5 Issue 1

This blog-post began with the purest intention to be funny and our weddi-versary trip conversations inspired me to REWRITE the whole post with an "announcement" and my hubby's VinhIsms. Here we go... A disclaimer - I'm not mad - this is a PSA for us married women (couples) getting tired of being asked - "So when are you gonna start a family?" MOTHERHOOD one of the many hats as a uterus-carrying-human-being I am expected to wear. Especially when I've been a committed relationship for ten years... And married for two of those years... And with a recent emotional reaction at work from getting my period- I need to remind myself that the majority of my life choices are based on what's best for me and what makes me happy. You see, we are NOT trying. BUT I have been officially off the pill for 7 months and nothing. A few months before being officially off the pill I had missed a couple of days of the pill and when we hear several stories of ...

"Vinh-isms" The Sh-Stuff My Hubby Says... Vol. 4 Issue 1

Here it is, my take on our first year of marriage brought to you by my husband's "Vinh-isms" There are days that I would like to ring his neck Homer Simpson style and then there are days that I find myself singing because I'm thinking about how much I love my husband. We decided to write add a new set of vows each wedding/matrimony anniversary and hearing him say what he said touched my heart and tickled my soul in ways that are new and exciting!!! Our re-newed vows made us reflect on the question that we've gotten asked most often through out our first year of marriage: "So what has changed in your first year of marriage?" And at first, we were both a bit bothered by the question because we had been together for 8 years by the time we got married - so technically and practically speaking, we were already "married." But after much discussion about our first year of marriage, we believe it's fair to say some things have changed. ...

Our children will be half breeds...

Yes, you read this post title correctly. Our children will be Half breeds! Hapa! Multi-Cultural! Half Asian! Half Latino! But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Disclaimer, this isn't a "We're expecting" announcement. Let's start from the beginning... A couple days ago my husband and I had dinner at a local pho restaurant and this was our second time there. In the both times we went, the restaurant was scarce with customers, meaning it's usually just us and one other customer. It's like that kind of restaurant  that's probably super busy over lunch time but not dinner time.. But I digress... Well, the first time we went to this restaurant the food was good and the service, well... same-old, same-old of a local pho place... but always the same-old, same-old curious looks, curious questions and... And after eight and a half years of dating, being engaged and marrying a man outside of my culture - it's just getting plain-old BORING an...

"Vinh-Isms" The Sh-Stuff My Hubby Says... Vol. 3 Issue 1

Practicing for when we get older... It has been a while... like about a whole 13 months since my last "Vinh-Isms" post! Yikes! And it's not for a lack of them... trust me! I've just been lacking motivation to write my blog... But I am here, finally! Thanks to it being Take Me Back Tuesday and all! And this picture, there are certain pictures of us that just make me smile and this is one of 'em!  I have a pretty, "die-hard, frst time ever in Vegas" story and it involves a wheelchair... So while in San Diego, celebrating my cousins 29th birthday, again... My cousins loved rehashing that story and when we saw the wheelchair, we just had to... So as the drill goes, always a little backstory so that y'all may understand... Backstory: I love my ringtones to have personality! And depending on the flavor of the month and/or my mood, I change my ringtone very often. So in the middle of choosing my new ringtone, he says: "Yeah!!! That...

"Vinh-Isms" The Sh-Stuff My Future Hubby Says... Vol. 2 Issue 3

I Choo-Choo Choose You! Damn skippy...Son! Y'all know the drill... My Babo says the darnest things!  It's been a while since I've posted one of these... A smidge over three months... And here they are, as usual, I will try my best to provide you with a backstory: Backstory: I try my best to speak well... I had teachers who would correct the way we spoke in class... So it kinda stuck with me... Now, I kinda catch myself correcting people's grammar... (but only the same ones that the teachers would correct... cause let's face it- y'all can read my grammar ain't top notch.... I hate using periods at end of sentences.... like a single period - I dunno why) OK back to the story... There was a day where he got to correct me:  "I love it when I get to correct your grammar!" And the he did his wiggle dance... Backstory: My Babo weighs a good buck-35 - he likes to say 38 - but c'mon we all know those are his jeans adding a few extra lbs.....

Yeah...I'm a Daddy's Girl and he's a Momma's Boy... But We Wouldn't Have It Another Way...

Our first place... At my new desk... Our breakfast nook- My last post was short and sweet... But it packed big news! So in case y'all didn't read it (SMH...cause you should be reading it- tis-tis) +Victor Ngo and I have moved out! Finally! After almost seven years of dating, traveling, family gatherings and an engagement- We finally did it! And it's proving to be super eye opening for the both of us. (In a good way... for now at least... and let's hope it continues to be for example he makes the bed when I leave to work before him! I know no big deal for some but he gets me and knows that i can't function if my bed is unmade) As mentioned earlier, we have been together for almost seven years (in May it'll be seven years)And we have traveled together for long periods of time, so we kinda knew each others nuisances. And now we're getting to know more of them...hehehe...Like I'm a night owl and he's a senior citizen! And we like to cuddle s...

Let's get naked! Ummmmmmmmmmmm...sure...ish...

Well, well, well-  talk about 'putting your money where your mouth is...' 'practice what you preach...' 'talk the talk - and walk the walk' - so on and so forth... This past weekend I had to eat my words... But before that-  two previews... Vinh and I spent our Valentine's Day weekend in LA - more specifically Disneyland! And it was most definitely lots of fun (Just minus my EGH attitude; I am beginning to grow concerned about but this a positive post so I'll focus on those concerns at another time) We love going to Disneyland and thought a V-Day date night would be perfect! And then Preview #1 I got this bright idea that we could do our pictures for our Save-the-Dates at DL- so we'll see... Vinh and I had planned to visit the park on both  Saturday and Sunday  - Saturday went as planned we took our pics...Check out a sneak peek...of my color scheme and outfit...  at Instagram tab at top of page- And then on Sunday we were suppose to ...

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do: Que Sera, Sera....

In my last post I promised that I would inform y'all of "life slapping me once again" - And after a conversation with my little brother - I am ready-ish to talk about it... My brother affirmed that I have never been known to keep quiet - he reminded me of who I am! That I wear my heart on my sleeve and along with my heart are my values and ideals... So... Long story short, I am unemployed (I originally wrote "in-between jobs" to try and make it sound better) - With the support of my family and my Babo - I am coming out of this almost unscathed... I wanted to take the week to process my whole situation and... I am still processing it, which is why I won't go into details - One thing is for sure, I am working REALLY HARD on focusing on the positives - I am appreciative for the free time that unemployment grants me - In my first week off, my head is clearer, I have been able to spend real quality time with Patch, re-organized my closet, wrote out ...

Eat, Drink and Be Married...if only it were that easy… Vol 1 Issue 1

FYI- some house keeping notes: I am having to write this blog via my phone...Ugh!!! Unreliable technology!!! (apologies now for any shorthanded stuff just extremely annoying having to do this over the phone) I know- I know- For a girl who claims to hate all things technology, I am definitely on this way too much than I claim to hate... And a toot-toot over 1,000 views- I would be lying if I didn't let y'all know how psyched I am to know that y'all are out there reading it, big or small audience, I'm just glad that I'm not totally alone with my thoughts... all the time... Before they're offended, I should clarify, my thoughts are not bad company- In my last post, I mentioned having a dark cloud looming over my head and I'm sure that it was a combination of many things- And just when I thought the cloud was gonna get darker, right before heading to our first scouting expedition, I read a post from @theblogess, (as if by divine intervention) Ok. ...

Something has been weighing heavy on mind... Pun Most Definitely intended

The story of my life and will always rear it's ugly head... Ok... I got something to tell y'all... I mean... take a seat if you haven't done so and if you're sitting then you gotta lie down... It's top heavy news... It's bananas! and I am still in disbelief that I have decided to write about this... Here it goes... I. AM. FAT. Goodness gracious it felt so good to get that off my chest... phew! Now I know, you're thinking "Thanks Captain Obvious"  and you're also thinking "why, what's, with all the dramatics..." You see today is Thanksgiving and some time ago I told myself that I wanted to lose weight before the holidays so I can stuff my face wit hella food... AND A few months before that, one of my initial thoughts after being proposed to was "I guess diet begins soon" (which I obviously have not done) AND a few months before that, at the beginning of the summer I began to plan a diet and exercise regimen A...

Disneyland... The Happiest Place on Earth even for Lugubrious Lilly

My Babo... And his Boba The kids face in the background is awesome! I understand how contradictory I can be; After all, the name of my blog is "Happiness is Way Overrated" yet I am a major Disney fan! An Annual Passholder as a matter of fact... Thanks to the LOML +Victor Ngo And I have delayed this post because I didn't want to bore folks with a post about how well my detailed Disney plan was executed (shameless self-affirmation)... The whole ride home, besides struggling to stay awake for my Babo, I thought about what I wanted to write about and I couldn't get this overwhelming feeling of awwwww... out of my chest.... And yes part of it was the magic of Disney but MAJORITY was realizing that I had fallen in love a little more with my fiance.... (Barf bag anyone....?) Ugh... I know it's sickening... But I really did! Let's get real for a sec...There are moments that I want to strangle him...(But I won't til he signs that life insurance, commenc...
