Another Fatshion 101 post, umm yes!!! (It's a mixture about one of my new favorite dresses and a reality that all Happy Fat and Fabulous Girls must face....)
You see- I did write a REALLY ANGRY post but the hubby recommended that I hold off posting it.
At least until I let my feelings simmer down. And every once in a blue moon I take his advice wholeheartedly...
Beeeesiiiiiides we were headed to Callistoga and we both agreed that I had gotten that bitter sh*t out of my system and that it was time to enjoy each other.
So off to my Fatshion 101:
"Online shopping is this fat girl's best friend"
I have been wanting to travel for a really long time, that bite that just keeps gnawing at the wanderlust part of my brain... And I read some great advice from a FB page... If you have that wanderlust bite but not the time, it suggested just to try a new scenery for a few days...
And with a job schedule constraint it's difficult to find 10 days let alone a weekend! So when there's a fifth Sunday in a month, it is time to rejoice! Luckily August had 5 Sundays!
And for once, in a really long time we decided to go somewhere other than Disneyland... I know!!! Shocker!!! But we really just wanted time to relax and as much of a Disneylander that I am, I am the first to admit that Disneyland requires a lot of stamina and I wanted to save my stamina for my liver instead.
Relaxation was the goal! We booked a little boutique hotel, scheduled a mud bath (never ever will do that again) and a massage.
I had also been wanting to check out the Castello Di Amorosa, Castle of Love...hehehe...
Hey! I'm a Disneylander, cut me some slack.
But more than anything I was looking
forward to wearing my dresses! One of my favorite parts of vacations and
travels is when I pack my outfits for the trip!
And this dress in particular, well...when you wear an outfit for a special occasion ... And then you think... Aww man! What a waste of an outfit! It's how I felt about this dress, so I was so excited to wear it again on this particular weekend!
It really isn't easy being this fat and fabulous... Which brings me to the two points I want to make on this Fatshion 101 post.
1. Online shopping is this fat girl's best friend! But it's expensive!
2. Why do people hesitate to call me fat, when that's exactly what they're doing.
#1 This dress is from www.eshakti.com an AWESOME website that I found as I fell down, down, down into the rabbit hole that is Instagram.
You can customize dresses! I am a fat girl that is on a journey to loving her body and I hope to one day no longer feel self-conscious of anything but for now I feel more comfortable wearing sleeves.
And this website allows me to save the search for that matching cardigan , or having to wear a jacket for an entire evening out because if the dress is originally sleeveless, I can just add sleeves. If I believe the dress to be too short, I can add length! And vice versa for ladies who like to go sleeveless or shorter!
I originally wore this dress with light blue wedge sandals but since we were going to be doing an awful lot of walking and drinking I opted for flat sandals from Mia shoes bought at Marshalls #fabfound. Other great online shopping resources for fat girls ASOS, H&M and believe it or not Zara.
#2 Like I mentioned earlier, I got a lot of compliments regarding this dress from women in all shapes and sizes.
The conversation or more like question, that always makes me a smidge uncomfortable and at the same time makes me feel wise is the one where women that are as fat as me if not fatter or thinner, begin with a compliment and then the question....oh THEE question...
The awkward question (awkward for just them, for just me or the both of us?) It always starts with something along the lines of:
"You look great! I love that dress!"
Looks into the distance as if the answer lies somewhere in the clouds...
"Where did you buy it?"
My answer will more than likely be H&M, Target, Forever 21, Windsor, Marshalls, etc.... And then again a long stare into the skies... I gear myself up for it...
Here it comes... the awkward question.
"How do you find anything in those stores?"
I get what they're hinting at but because I am me, I pretend I have no idea and make them elaborate...so I ask "What do you mean..."
They say, "Like, you know, for us girls in between sizes - - - Like, they're sizes run small - - - or what my bank teller told me once, "Where do you shop? You always have the cutest outfits and my body went through so many changes with both my pregnancies..." I also had a friend recently ask me on FB a similar question, and I can choose to get offended or just take the compliment... So I am taking the compliment!
But in so many other words, what they really mean to say is: "Heeeey you're fat, right??? Please tell me where do you find those sizes?"
I feel awkward for them because I get it and I feel wise because the first rule to FATSHION 101 is that there aren't any rules. It's all about your confidence! Your smile! Your attitude!
Non-existent rule #2: Wear whatever the f*ck makes you feel be-you-tiful!
Sooooooooo...
Fat girl to fat girl:
Fat girl to not so fat girl:
That is all,
'Til next time.
Toodles,
Lilly Perez-Ngo

I apologize for the poor quality, but still saving up for that DSLR and a new phone;-) |
This dress received so many compliments and it validated the amount of money I spent on it. Hehehe
Yeah, it's one of the lessons every girl has to learn, sometimes things you like cost a lot of money! But even more so for this fat girl. I can find a dress at target.com but I am more likely to spend an extra few bucks to have it hemmed or taken in...
Because God blessed me with a fat ass, big boobs but a small waist - so my boobs, chest and ass need an XL or an XXL but my waist can be an inch or two smaller.

Fat girl to fat girl:
Ain't no shame in the body you have and wanting to dress up it nicely -
Fat girl to not so fat girl:
Ain't no shame in loving this fat girl's fatshion game, just ask me where I shop without insulting my fatness or being surprised that I can find clothes that fit me and are stylish;-)
That is all,
'Til next time.
