Fatshion 101: Everything is coming up roses...

Sweater from Forever 21Plus
When Disney closed the doors on the Broadway musical version of Beauty and the Beast in 2007 - there was a lot of speculation in the Disney blogosphere of a live-action production and for years - that's all it was... speculation.

In 2011 one of the composers broke all BATB fan's hearts when he stated in an interview the film version 'had been canned"

Then the rumors started up again in 2014 and by the beginning of 2015 it was announced Emma Watson would be playing Belle - production ended in 2015 and then again - I searched all Disney blogs for a release date.

I remember reading the headline and crying from pure joy; in 2015 filming wrapped up and Disney announced the movie would be released in 2017.

And some can say I have been waiting since 2007 but really I have been waiting for this movie sinceEver After: A Cinderella Story back in 1998. It's a pretty-cool take on the Cinderella story - where Cinderella is actually Danielle - who has an affinity for reading books and putting men in power in their place.
the live-action version of Cinderella- Drew Barrymore's

I remember watching this film and thinking that it reminded me of Belle and her story - and since then have been dreaming, hoping and wishing for a live-action BATB!

When Disney officially announced the release date with a teaser trailer - during Good Morning America - I set-up the DVR to record it because I'm not naturally a morning person...

BUT I couldn't sleep from the excitement so when the first teaser was released I was up at the crack of dawn to watch it stream -live online and I nearly lost my sh*t.

My husband was sitting next to me and would not stop staring at me - because 17 seconds in- as soon as I hear the piano keys hit that soothing melody I start to cry. (It's a bit irksome - when he still doesn't understand that I cry when I am the most happy...)

And every other preview since then has basically induced the same reaction from me and now with the movie only-less than 24 hours away - - - I am going NUCKING FUTS!

I have been reminiscing on IG - all the BATB moments we've had at DL and WDW over the years and I can't believe the day is almost-finally here!

Disneyland converted one of their restaurants and had a really cool souvenir cup! It's like life wanted to poke fun at us for cancelling our AP, because the parks have also had fun BATB experiences - with Belle and Adam (aka the Beast) dancing in front of the castle, riding the carousel, etc, etc, etc!

I'm not one to throw myself pitty-party or play victim from circumstances I've created - so instead  I want to relish in this moment that I have been waiting for - for over 19 years!

And I have decided to rejoice in this moment with a little #DresstinationsByLilly! Where are we going... we're going to the movies!

We're going on an adventure in the great wide somewhere!,(<- See what I did there!)

I want to celebrate the premiere of BATB with my favoritest scene from the first teaser trailer at about 1:05 the enchanted rose appears and I knew that had to be the focal point of my outfit!!!

As I've said before - florals are one of my style-staple - so I had an aching need for a new floral patterned item of clothing.

I perused my usual go-to websites, ended at Forever21 and found this gorgeous rose-print romper for only $19.90! And y'all know my style rules - if I can't think of three outfits on the spot - then no-buy but if I do - it's Yasss-BUY bish! So! I bought it! Duh!

So long-story-short- here is this fun, vivacious, and rosey romper I plan on wearing to the premiere of Beauty and The Beast!

I haven't quite decided which jacket and shoes but here is what I've come up with...

Jacket from Levi's outlet and boots are from ftfsnaps
This one here is my top contender - it's casual (My favoritest "wear) , it's comfortable and seasonal - The rose filled romper welcomes the early-spring weather and the boots keep me warm for the breezier winter evenings.

The jacket is from a store in LA located on Melrose and shoes are from Target
This one has more of a date-night feel but a block-chunky heel is my go-to comfortable heel! But for a movie night - it may be a smidge too much...But still too pretty of an outfit not to share or eventually wear.

The utility jacket is Ava and Viv from Target and the shoes are from Aldo
This is another major contender! Mainly because I love the juxtaposition of a feminine print and the more military-green jacket.

My favoritest-favoritest part of this #DresstinationsByLilly is the accessories!

These earrings are so much fun - though not very practicaal when in a hurry - believe me I've tried!

The earrings are Kate Spade and I bought them for $18 at Nordstrom Rack.

The sunglasses are from boutique, Francesca's - and the boutique at Oakrdige - majority of the time - has a sale of two pair of shades for only  $20!

I can't get enough! They're affordable and in touch with the latest styles.

This necklace I've had for a while - I bought for our trip to Paris and found it fitting for my BATB OOTD since Belle is from France;-)

The necklace has tons of little charms ( I LOVE CHARMS) A rose, the Eiffel Tower, and I added a little bell - that was originally attached to a Belle figurine.

The other accessory is the BATB charm bracelet my husband recently surprised me with - from Disney Couture!

Here is the romper without a jacket - and the belle sleeves are a sweet touch - and will be flowy enough for the hotter months. And a bell sleeve for my Belle... awgh.. I mean, this romper continues to give me life! The roses dedicated to the Enchanted Rose are simply lovely and soo beautiful - which is why I say this Fat girl's OOTD dedication to a Beauty and her Beast is coming up roses!

'Til next time -

Toodles,

Mrs. Lilly Perez-Ngo

Fatshion 101: Return of National Polka Dot Day

Happy New Year's Y'all! I am happy to be back! I am happy that it's the beginning of the year when the days feel refreshed and reinvigorated. I am not so much of the "new year, new me" attitude BUT a new year does represent a much more glacier pace of life for me. I kinda fell off the face of the Earth or at least my blog since September 2018... October, our birthday month was superbusy, November at work is an insane time and December is for the holidays sooooooo by the end of the year - I am just waiting with bated breath for new years! Aaaaaaaand January is also home to one of my favoritest days of the year! National Polka Dot Day! In honor of the the Polka Dot Queen herself, Minnie Mouse! If it has dots! I want it! I got it! ;-) And dude!!! I celebrated in what I can only describe as pants sent from heaven! They are from Zara and I bought them ON SALE, maybe six months ago and they come in XXL! I fell in love with them the minute I put them on SO ...

EDC 2016: Modesty, nudity and feminism

Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent Give it to me to go to Vegas and come back more of an empowered feminist than ever! Damn right! First of all... (clap, clap) Let's get something straight! (clap-clap)) My anxiety/insecurity prior to this Vegas Wedding slash EDC thing had NOTHING to do with my body!!! (CLAP) I struggle with finding nudity an empowering source! And not because I'm fat but because I've always been a believer in less is more - in where, the less skin I show, the more enticing and the more empowered I feel. Yeah! Ladies and gents! It's possible! And an argument can be made of the same saying; Less is more - The less clothing you wear the more enticing and empowered you can feel! And I say "I struggle" with 'empowering nudity' because we are bombarded with nudity everywhere we look - We are meant to be made to believe that we should all be comfortable with nudity - well I hate to break it to y'all but - nah! I've written ...

Fatshion 101: Learning to Live with Intent and Balance

Note: I started writing this blog in March while on our way Home to the Happiest Place on Earth ---days before resigning from my job of six years... I’ve always enjoyed my time sitting at a desk looking out a window… Which is probably why as I sit thousands of feet above the sky I am inspired to pull out my laptop (That I’ve packed to finish work emails – on my day off)  but  as I type those words- I’ve chosen to f*ck that sh*t – I am going to use my laptop to blog! I am a little  conflicted on where to start –  I’ve had these thoughts, these words, this blog on my mind for a long time… (Clears throat: it has been well over a year since my last blogpost) I haven’t written for fun in ages and I know myself well enough to know that I shouldn’t have taken such a long break from journaling/blogging (Friendly FYI – I maintain a handwritten journal in addition to my blog) But even before the summer 2019 I stopped all forms of journaling completely – I insta-s...
